Oracle Text - alternatives?

Can anyone recommend alternatives to Oracle text (intermedia text) - I am sure their are many ways to skin this cat - has anyone ever migrated an app from Oracle Text to an altrnative?

Oracle Text is the 'easy option' - built into the database, therefore no platform support issues, tied into the SQL language so accessible in pl/sql, no additional licensing costs (although IIRC ConText Option with 8.0.x was almost the same price as standard edition!).
